Icefrog just announced that the the first version of Varlock's reconnection tool is almost ready for release. They've been testing it in real DotA games for the past few weeks and it has worked very well.
According to Icefrog, "We've had many players disconnect only to reconnect moments later, saving otherwise lost games."
Best thing about this Reconnection Project?
The code for this tool (both client and server) will be open source so that anyone can build upon it and integrate it into their platforms and communities.
Gotta love open source programming...
Garena, DotAPod and all the other DotA LAN Emulators, please take note.
Integrate this tool to your platforms as soon as possible if you don't want to lose your DotA gamers to the 1st platform to fully integrate this awesome feature.
This is the 2nd part in the DotA reconnection series.
