According to their website, Heroes of Newerth is a game by S2 Games that is classified under the new classification of games called DotA Based Games (DBG) which is read as D-B-G like RPGs in role playing games.

They're called Aeons of Strife, after the first map, Aeon of Strife, in Starcraft that used this style. Calling them DBGs is a disgrace.
